Nokia Wins Serbian Network Contract

Telekom Srbija has chosen Nokia Siemens Networks for the supply and implementation of its GSM network extensions and 3G WCDMA network with HSPA functionality and associated services. Nokia Siemens Networks started the deliveries in July.

The contract covers equipment delivery and installation, commissioning and integration of the system, comprising such solutions as a high speed radio network, next generation mobile core equipment and an extension of the prepaid system. The tailor made package includes 3G radio and core equipment (Mobile Softswitching solution consisting of MSC Servers and Media Gateways) as well as an extension of the prepaid system.

The financial terms of the contract was not disclosed.

The Mobile World analysts note that Telecom Srbija is currently the dominant operator in the country, having ended Q1 '07 with just over 4.5 million customers."
