
MOSCOW, Feb 9 (Prime-Tass) -- The subscriber base of Kazakhstan's KaR-Tel, a subsidiary of Russia's second largest mobile operator VimpelCom, doubled in 2006 to 4 million users, KaR-Tel's General Director Dmitry Kromsky said at a news conference late Thursday.
The company controls about 47% of the market, according to its own estimates, he said. Mobile services penetration in Kazakhstan, which has a population of about 15 million people, amounted to 53% as of December 2006, he added.
In 2007, KaR-Tel plans to increase its user base to 5 million people, Kromsky added.
