Moroccan Network Expects 50% Market Share

The Moroccan based GSM network, Meditel said it expects to capture half the country's mobile phone market by 2003. "At this stage, Meditel has reached 375,000 subscribers, of which 90 percent are pre-paid card subscriptions" Meditel's general director Julian Barrenchea told a news conference on Monday. Meditel, a consortium led by Spain's Telefonica and Morocco's blue-chip BMCE Bank, went into commercial operation in April this year."
