Peru's incumbent fixed line operator Telefónica de Perú (TdP), a unit of Spain's Telefónica and California-based network platforms provider Nomadix, will deploy an interconnected web of Wi-Fi hotspots and wireless mesh in municipalities, Nomadix said in a statement.
Targeting the corporate market, the network will offer "pay as you go" roaming IP services. It will be available in airports, hotels, shopping centers, and other public areas.
The deployment will utilize Nomadix's Wi-Fi gateway platform, coined NSE, which uses venue, carrier, municipality, or service provider infrastructure to enable public access connectivity.
Nomadix has deployed 26,000 NSE units in 60 countries.
