Kuwait's MTC says that it is not planning to renew its joint marketing plan with Vodafone when the existing contract comes up for renewal next year. MTC Managing Director and CEO Saad Al-Barrak said yesterday that the agreement's term, three years, has ended in Kuwait and will end next year in Bahrain. Neither will be renewed.
Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency, Al-Barrak also said that the company is aiming to become a true international company within the next five years. Al-Barrak said, MTC currently extends its services to 20 countries but still needs to enter the European, American, and Asian markets to become an international company. The company's 23 million subscribers must grow to 50 million for the company to reach international standards, he said.
The CEO added the company is currently focused on the Arab market, which includes the Middle East and Africa. The following phase will be Asia and Eastern Europe, he said, stating "the latter is a very promising area."
