A local councilor has proposed the deployment of Wi-Fi hotspots to make Rosario Argentina's first digital city by 2010, new site RosarioNet reported.
The first phase of the program includes access connections in the airport, bus station, public offices and universities, according to councillor Jorge Boasso's proposal.
Boasso said it would also be important to offer connectivity in key tourist attractions and in major parks across the city, as well as in main commercial areas.
In capital Buenos Aires there are nearly 250 Wi-Fi hotspots, according to a previous study conducted by consultancy Marco Consultora.
Around 59.4% of those hotspots are concentrated in restaurants and bars, while 19.5% are located in hotels.
