Taiwan Mobile (TWM) has successfully demonstrated IP-MVPN (Mobile Virtual Private Network with VoIP support) and 3G-PC bi-directional video call services at a local trade fair. TWM is the first mobile operator to demonstrate these services in a WiMAX, WiFi, 2G and 3G integrated network in Taiwan. These services enable enterprise users to work more efficiently under a multiple wireless access network.
As the correlation between wireless access networks (WiFi/WiMAX) and mobile networks (2G/3G) increases, the line between the two networks have also become blurred. TWM offers a service that enables corporate users IP-MVPN services that allow them to directly dial to mobile phones using MVPN extension numbers through an IP network on the computer or PDA devices.
TWM also demonstrated 3G-PC bi-directional video call services - this is a pioneering service demonstration in Taiwan. TWM integrates 3G video platform and PC video call platform to enable mobile users to make a video call to a PC via internet, and vice versa.
TWM has been involved in "Nan Kang Software Park WiFi/Cellular Dual Network Pioneering Service Implementation Project" since 2005. Last year, TWM demonstrated the worldwide first SIM based WiFi authentication and this year, TWM demonstrates the next generation IP-MVPN and 3G-PC bi-directional video call services."
