MOSCOW, Feb 17 (Prime-Tass) -- The operating revenue of Swedish telecommunications company Tele2 AB in Russia soared 96.6% on the year to U.S. $133.6 million in 2005, the company said in a statement Friday.

Operating revenue in October-December 2005 more than doubled to $48 million.

The company attributed the boost in revenue to the rise of its subscriber base.

The company's investments in the Baltic States and Russia increased more than 100% to $194.4 million in 2005.

Tele2 operates in 13 Russian regions. Its subscriber base in Russia stood at 3.320 million users as of January 31, Advanced Communications & Media (AC&M) said.

Tele2 is an alternative telecommunication operator of Europe. Tele2 has services in 25 countries in the world. It has a total subscriber base of almost 30 million users. The company was established in 1993.
