STOCKHOLM -(Dow Jones)- Mobile Systems Manufacturer Telefon AB LM Ericsson (ERICY) said Friday more than 10 million of the world's WCDMA handsets are based on Ericsson technology.
Ericsson Mobile Platforms took an early lead in third generation, 3G, with an estimated 30% market share in WCDMA handset sales during 2004.
Several of the top handset manufacturers in the world have license agreements with Ericsson Mobile Platforms for 3G platforms.
Since May 2004, Ericsson Mobile Platforms' customers have launched 23 3G handset models globally and the number of units shipped has exceeded 10 million units to date.
