In an Australian first, pre-paid mobile customers can earn up to US$37 (AU$50) per month in mobile credit just by answering their mobile phone. Telstra's Head of Consumer Marketing, Ms Jenny Young, said the new offer rewards customers with five cents credit for every full minute someone calls them from any type of phone in Australia. The extra credit of up to US$37 per month can be used like any normal recharge credit.
Called Telstra Pre-Paid Plus Call Credits, the offer means that a pre-paid customer that receives three four-minute calls a day could add up to US$13.40 credit to their account each month. A customer that receives eight four-minute calls a day could add up to US$35.64 credit each month.
Ms Young said Telstra Pre-Paid Plus Call Credits will, for the first time in Australia, financially reward pre-paid mobile users for doing what they love - talking on the phone.
"We're providing genuine value to our customers for simply talking on their mobile - it doesn't get much easier to earn something for nothing," Ms Young said.
Telstra Pre-Paid Plus Call Credits is available to all new pre-paid customers, and existing pre-paid customers who choose to take it up, 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Credit can be earned from calls received from any phone service - be that a mobile, land line or even a payphone.
"Telstra Pre-Paid Plus Call Credits is great news to the hip pocket of young people across Australia," Ms Young said. "The savings offered by Telstra's Pre-Paid Plus Call Credits potentially translate to free tickets to the movies, a new CD or a handful of DVD rentals each month."
