When planning to rob a mobile phone retailer - it is probably wise to have a look at the premises before robbing it. It is however, probably not so wise to apply for a mobile phone account, presenting the staff with your proof of address and identity.
This is exactly what Carlos Cardenas did when robbing Bakersfield Wireless in California. He entered the store armed with a knife, and cut the phone lines before robbing the store. He was recognized by the staff as having visited the store just a few hours earlier and applying for a mobile phone.
