
NEW DELHI (Dow Jones)--Reliance Infocomm Ltd. added 469,770 subscribers in January to its Code Division Multiple Access service, pushing its user base to 10.77 million, industry data showed late Tuesday.
Over the month, Reliance Infocomm's CDMA user base grew 4.6% from 10.3 million in December, according to the data from the Association of Unified Telecom Service Providers of India.
Reliance Infocomm, a unit of diversified Reliance Industries Ltd. (500325.BY), is India's largest mobile phone operator in terms of subscribers. It is closely followed by Bharti Tele-Ventures Ltd. (532454.BY), which has 10.24 million users on its Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) network.
Reliance also has a presence in the GSM sector with its unit Reliance Telecom Ltd. but it is a relatively small player. At the end of January, Reliance Telecom's GSM subscribers totaled 1.05 million, according to data from a separate trade body, the Cellular Operators' Association of India.
