
HONG KONG (Dow Jones)--China Unicom Ltd. (CHU) said Wednesday it added 646,000 subscribers to its CDMA, or code division multiple access, network in December.
The listed arm of China's second-largest mobile phone service provider added a total of 8.87 million CDMA users in 2004, boosting the customer base of its CDMA network to 27.81 million.
China Unicom also added 886,000 GSM, or global system for mobile, users in December. Its GSM network enrolled a total of 11.7 million new users in 2004, bringing the customer base of its GSM network to 84.27 million.
