Hong Kong's Hutchison 3G has expanded its 3G network coverage from the concourse areas to the platforms and tunnels for Wan Chai to Chai Wan MTR stations. Together with Sheung Wan, Central and Admiralty stations which have enjoyed full 3G coverage earlier on, all 14 stations of the entire MTR Island Line, from Sheung Wan to Chai Wan, now support seamless mobile communications services.
3 Hong Kong has also exclusively installed microsites in selective concourse areas of MTR Kowloon Line and Tsuen Wan Line. 3 Hong Kong endeavours to deliver full 3G coverage in all other MTR lines, with the Airport Express Line and the Tung Chung Line to be ready early next year. Full 3G coverage for the complete MTR line is expected by August 2005.
3 Hong Kong now provides over 99% 3G coverage in densely populated areas, covering all major shopping centres, hotels, department stores, restaurants, karaoke and entertainment spots throughout Hong Kong, including elevators of selective buildings. To keep pace with urban development and the construction of new housing estates, 3 Hong Kong constantly extends its 3G coverage so that customers may enjoy superb outdoor and indoor 3G services wherever they are. Langham Place which was opened last month in Portland Street at Mongkok is a good example. 3 Hong Kong is the first local mobile operator to offer full 3G coverage at this new shopping and leisure hot spot, allowing 3-3G- customers to enjoy video and voice communication and other 3G services at the shopping mall.
3 has provided the territory's widest 3G network coverage, which include all 12 major traffic tunnels in Hong Kong. These tunnels include Lion Rock Tunnel, Cross-Harbour Tunnel, Cheung Tsing Tunnel, Aberdeen Tunnel, Eastern Harbour Crossing, Western Harbour Crossing, Airport Tunnel, Discovery Bay Tunnel Link, Shing Mun Tunnels, Tate's Cairn Tunnel, Tseung Kwan O Tunnel, and Tai Lam Tunnel."
