Sweden Telecom Body Seeks Bids For 450 MHz Mobile License

STOCKHOLM -(Dow Jones)- Sweden's telecommunications regulator Thursday issued an invitation for bids from mobile-telecom operators to buy a new mobile-telephony license in the 450 megahertz frequency band.

The network to be built under the license is intended to provide extensive coverage in rural areas of Sweden.

The regulator, PTS, said it will use a closed auction method for awarding the license. Interested parties must submit bids by Feb. 9 and the winner will announced Feb. 17, it said.

The network will be built using digital technology and will replace an analog network operated by TeliaSonera AB (TLSN.SK).
