First IDEN Network for Puerto Rico

North Sight Communications has awarded Motorola the first island wide iDEN system contract for Puerto Rico. North Sight plans to begin offering iDEN wireless service in the fourth quarter of 2004 under the brand name of ProxTel Wireless.

"ProxTel will provide business and government dispatch users with a fast digital radio connection along with telephone interconnect and alphanumeric paging capabilities -- giving our customers multiple communications options in a single, integrated handset," said Wilfredo Miranda, president ProxTel Wireless.

North Sight's initial network will consist of a Harmony switching platform with island wide coverage. The Harmony switching solution is a digital trunking system that provides two-way radio and wireless telephone services for commercial specialized mobile radio operators and commercial and industrial system customers.

"Motorola's iDEN Harmony technology will provide North Sight Communications with a very feature rich service offering designed to meet the needs of business and government users," said Bob Suastegui, senior director, Motorola iDEN Infrastructure. "In addition, our iDEN Harmony technology is very scalable and will allow North Sight the flexibility to expand its iDEN network to meet market growth requirements."
