Alltel's quarterly revenue rose 3% to $2.10 billion from $2.05 billion a year ago, driven by a 7% gain in wireless revenue to $1.3 billion from $1.2 billion last year.
Digital subscriber line customers increased in the quarter by 67% to a total of 216,885 compared to a year ago. Average monthly revenue per customer rose to $65.84 from $64.49 a year ago.
Alltel paid $264 million to repurchase 4.85 million shares in the quarter. It now has 307.8 million diluted shares outstanding.
