Convergys has announced a billing and customer care contract for Infinys software with the UK based GSM network, O2. The mobile carrier will use Geneva, the Infinys application for rating and billing, for its postpaid business.
O2 began using Geneva to support the rollout of its GPRS program, a project that served as a stepping-stone for this latest initiative. The implementation of this Infinys software as O2's strategic rating and billing solution enables O2 to consolidate its complex postpaid retail and wholesale billing operations. Until now, O2's complex postpaid billing operation comprised five separate retail systems and an additional system for its wholesale operation. Convergys is replacing all of these systems, consolidating all rating and billing operations into a single convergent platform.
"This project is very important for us. Not only is Geneva highly configurable, meaning that we can bring new products and services to market quickly, but it gives us a single view of our entire contract customer base, enabling us to target and track products and innovate around discounts and packages in a way that was impossible before," said Karen Laidler, CIO at O2. "We learned from our GPRS program that Geneva was an outstanding system, but equally important has been the ongoing support and commitment of Convergys as a strategic billing partner, something that has been confirmed and enhanced through this program."
