Greeks Gets Supersized SIM Cards

Greece's Telestet has become the first network in the country to offer a SIM card with 64K of memory, whereas all others have 32?. Through POWERSIM a new menu appears on the screen of the mobile phones, providing access to 58 services based on SMS, MMS and Voice Recognition technologies. The only thing users have to do is to select the service they want to use from the Telestet services menu.

Besides instant access to services, Telestet customers can be informed about the provided services. Special devices, settings or applications are not necessary while all services may be used from the very first second that the new card is activated.

The basic categories of services provided by the new card are the following:

  1. My services (ability to form the menu by adding new or most frequently used services)
  2. Entertainment (includes the well known services Free2Date, Astrology, Jokes, Enigmas, Cinema, Greeting Cards and many more)
  3. Information (Includes information services such as News, Finance, Sports, Weather, Ship Schedules)
  4. Finder (Users may find the closest Pharmacy, Gas store, Restaurant..)
  5. Mobile Office (Dictionary, Fax and e-mail)
  6. Customer Service

Users may also change the menu language and select the English version.

The new POWERSIM card is provided free with any new activation of either contract connection or card phone connection whereas replacement cost in case card is stolen, lost nor destroyed is just under US$19."
