Estonia Updating its Dialing Codes

According to the Estonian numbering plan, the domestic prefix 0 will not be used from February 1, 2004. Hence, a caller does not have to dial 0 before a domestic phone number. For example, on February 1, 2004, the current number 050 XXXXX should be dialed as 50 XXXXX.

However, international calling will remain the same: the prefix 00 or + sign used with mobile phones still apply.

Removal of the prefix also requires changing of phone numbers stored in the mobile phone and/or SIM card memory from February 1, 2004, when the numbers are stored in the Estonian format (beginning with 0). Numbers stored by the international format (beginning with + or 00) can remain the same.

EMT customers can now take their SIM card to EMT dealers where the stored numbers are changed automatically. "
