Facebook has released an updated version of its Messenger app for Windows Phone users that adds some of the functionality already found in the app on Android and iPhone handsets.
The key upgrade is that the Facebook Messenger app can now take a photo from within the app rather than requiring the user to leave the app, take a photo, then access it from with the app's gallery search.
An oddly long winded process that had annoyed users for some time.
The new app also includes an improved photo gallery letting users access photos they had taken at other times.
A new groups tab also makes managing multiple conversations easier.
The company said that it has improved the app performance, by caching images in the background, which on the image-heavy Facebook service is said to make a significant difference to the app and battery drain.
