Spotify Issues Urgent Security Fix for Android Users

Published on:

Note -- this news article is more than a year old.

Music streaming service, Spotify has warned that someone has had unauthorized access to their systems and internal company data.

It's not the same sort of mass hack that has affected other companies though, and Spotify says that just one user's account details were accessed, and not their password, financial or payment information.

As a general precaution though, some Spotify users will be asked to re-enter their username and password to log in over the coming days.

As an extra safety step, they are going to guide Android app users to upgrade over the next few days. At this time there is no action recommended for iOS and Windows Phone users.

The company did not elaborate on what it was about the Android app that needed changing.

Spotify said that it will be taking further actions in the coming days to increase security for users.
