WhatsApp, the OTT messaging platform says that it have broken its own record for messages, and earlier this week a total of 64 billion messages were processed on its platform in a single day.
The company, which has just been acquired by Facebook in a USD19 billion deal chose to use Twitter to make the announcement.
WhatsApp said that 20 billion messages were sent, and 44 billion were received. That is a slightly misleading number, as it count a single message sent to multiple recipients as a collection of separate messages.
The figure beats its previous record of 54 billion messages sent in the 24 hours surrounding New Years Eve.
