Verizon Wireless customers are consuming the highest quantity of mobile data traffic, according to analysis by Validas on behalf of ConsumerReports.
The report also found that while mobile data consumption is continuing to rise, many data users eat up far fewer megabytes than you might expect.
According to the report, the average smart-phone data use in the February, 2010 to February, 2011 bill sample ranged from 274MB to 449MB per month.
The data only includes AT&T, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless. The other networks were excluded due to too small a sample size at Validas.
The sizable difference between the average and median results from the relatively small percentage of users who gobble up huge amounts of data, which pulls up the average.
