India's four largest mobile networks have slashed their roaming charges, following an order from the telecoms regulator which was issued only last month.
With effect from today, Vodafone, Airtel. Idea and RCom have cut their roaming rates by between 20%-75%.
The networks said that customers would pay on average 40% less for incoming calls while roaming, while text messages were cut by three quarters.
It's estimated that the regulatory cuts will reduce mobile network operator revenues by around 2 percent over this financial year.
