Millions of SIM Cards Cut Off in Pakistan

Around 6 million SIM Cards have been blocked on the orders of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), according to a local media report.

The report, by The News Tribe said that the mobile networks were blocking unregistered SIM cards that were  issued before the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) came into effect.

The PTA has directed mobile phone operators to speed up the mechanism of blocking unregistered SIMS.

The country has around 130 million mobile accounts.
