Taiwan Edges Closer to 4G License Auction

Taiwan's telecoms regulator, the NCC has released more details of its impending 4G spectrum auction, which is due to be held on the 3rd September.

The regulator said that it will release a total of 270MHz of spectrum in the 700MHz, 900MHz and 1800MHz bands.

There are currently seven applicants, including Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile, Far Eastone Telecommunications (FET), Asia Pacific Telecom, Ambit Microsystems and two other companies backed by Ting Hsin International and Shinkong.

The NCC is scheduled to finish reviewing the list of applications by the end of August and announce qualified bidders just before the auction starts.

The final result is expected to be concluded by the end of 2013.
