Police Release Selfie of Alleged Phone Thief

Published on:

Police in the UK have released a photo of a man they would like to question about the whereabouts of a stolen phone.

They only have the photo, because the stolen phone was apparently used to take a "selfie", and it\'s default settings automatically emailed that to the email address of the original owner.

The owner, an unidentified student who appeared to lose his HTC phone last week, then contacted the local police with the photo.

The phone has been set to take the selfie automatically when the wrong unlock code is entered several times.

Essex Police said they are now keen to speak to the man in the photo.
