Huawei has announced plans to open a new R&D centre in Bristol, in the South West of the UK.
The new centre will recruit 30 R&D employees and focus on researching ICT chips, software, and analog chip technology, complementing the efforts of its existing Ipswich-based optoelectronics R&D office.
All together, the number of UK-based R&D jobs will increase to 140 by the end of 2014, and as previously announced will reach 300 by 2017. The new R&D centre is expected to open later this year.
Today the company has 15 offices and over 900 employees in the UK, planned to rise to 1,500 by 2017.
