Zain has replaced the General Manager at its managed services in Lebanon with immediate effect.
Zain operates the state-owned mobile network in the country under a managed services agreement, but there has been political pressure on both of the country's two mobile networks to improve services or lose their contracts.
Zain said in a statement that it has appointed Wassim Mansour as General Manager (GM) of 'touch' in Lebanon.
Prior to this appointment as GM of 'touch', Mr. Mansour held the position of Chief Advisor to the Zain Group CEO for the past 18 months during which time he temporarily served as CEO of Zain South Sudan.
The incumbent General Manager, Claude Bassil will be moving to another management role within Zain Group.
Commenting on the appointment, Zain Group CEO Scott Gegenheimer said: "With Wassim Mansour's strong background in technology and management, and with the committed support of all of Zain Group resources, I have every confidence he is the right person to take Zain's managed operation in Lebanon to the next level."
Zain has been managing 'touch' since June 1, 2004, although the long term status of the agreement is constantly in flux with the contract only being renewed on short term basis, and plans for the government to privatise the networks being regularly set back.
