ZTE has announced that it has launched a commercial trial of voice over LTE (VoLTE) high definition voice services in Henan province for China Unicom.
"We're pleased to be the exclusive provider for China Unicom as they launch enhanced VoLTE service in Henan," said Gong Dehua, vice president of Core Network Products at ZTE.
ZTE has provided China Unicom with end to end VoLTE solutions, including voice over WIFI (VoWiFi), VoLTE HD video and audio and Rich Communications Services (RCS) for China Unicom.
The Henan VoLTE project is one of the seven trial sites in China and is the first province to realise VoLTE commercialisation for China Unicom. As a result of ZTE's rich experience in building VoLTE networks, the construction has successfully passed tests in multiple phases, a feat that China Unicom has praised. Additionally, during construction ZTE helped China Unicom establish First Call on the existing network infrastructure, enabling the telecommunications operator to gain a leading position as a provider of VoLTE networks.
