EMT Launches LTE-A in Estonia
Published on: 25th Aug 2014
Estonia's EMT has announced the launch of LTE A services, offering theoretical peak download speeds of up to 300Mbps.
In the first stage, LTE-A has been be made available in Kiisa, and during the next few days it will also be available near the Tallinn TV Tower.
"This is where mobile traffic is heaviest because of the large number of private houses that are not connected to a broadband network," said Tiit Tammiste, Head of Technology Division at EMT.
EMT will continue with the build-up of LTE-A base stations and expansion of the coverage area by connecting base stations to a fibre optics network necessary for the high-speed connection. Additionally, EMT continues with configuring the mobile network for the new technology and updating network hubs.
The LTE-A-enabled router Huawei E5186 will be soon available at EMT's online store, as well as at EMT and Elion retails locations for €249.
