Nokia Networks is reported to have won a three year contract from India's Idea Cellular to replace its entire GSM and 3G networks.
The contract was signed last year, and work has already started, an unnamed source told the Economic Times newspaper.
"Entire gear of 2G and 3G technologies is being provided under the deal. Nokia Networks commands 40% market share with Idea Cellular and is present in the telecom operator's seven key circles," said the person, without revealing the value of the contract.
As Nokia Siemens Networks, the company has been a supplier to Idea Cellular since 2007, when it won two contracts collectively worth USD650 million to deploy the mobile network infrastructure.
NSN also picked up a 3G contract from Idea Cellular in late 2010.
