Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) plans to launch an MVNO service in the USA within the next few days, having signed an agreement with T Mobile USA.
The Philippine operator is targeting the ex-pat community working in the USA, who are estimated to number around 3.5 million potential customers.
The MVNO is expected to go live on the 12th June, to coincide with Philippine Independence Day.
The company will initially target five cities for the service launch -- Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, San Diego and Las Vegas -- where the ex-pat community is more heavily concentrated.
This is PLDT's eighth MVNO -- as it has existing operations in Macau, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Guam, Taiwan, UK, and Singapore.
In related news, the company is also in talks to open an MVNO in Canada shortly.
