Zain Jordan Appears to Be Scaling Back 4G Ambitions

Published on:

Zain Jordan appears to be scaling back the ambitions for its forthcoming LTE network as it quietly changed a press release it issued back in April.

At the time, the press release stated that the company "will provide its 4G services through LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology, which allows four times the speeds offered by 3G services."

Now, the press release on their website has been edited to change that sentence to simply that the company "will provide its 4G services through LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology."

They've removed the reference to the speed of the network, which they used to say would be four times the speed of their existing 3G service. There is no no reference at all in the press statement to the expected speed being offered.

Further down the press statement, where it used to say:

"4G services will double data consumption over the various devices by more than four folds, as the benefits of LTE service will be reflected on internet penetration, and developing and enhancing the local economy,"

Now, that sentence reads simply:

"4G services will double data consumption over the various devices, as the benefits of LTE service will be reflected on internet penetration, and developing and enhancing the local economy,"

Regardless of the reason for the changes, trying to edit a press release after it has been published is about the biggest red flag there is to the fact that something is afoot.
