Outsourced customer care call centre operator Convergys has announced plans to open a new centre in Northern Ireland and hire more than 300 staff.
Although the company said that the client is an unnamed "multinational telecommunications company", it was widely reported in local news media that the customer is the UK based mobile network, EE.
This will be the third location in Northern Ireland for Convergys, which now operates two service centers in Belfast as part of its recent acquisition of Stream Global Services. In addition, the company operates multiple facilities in other parts of the U.K. along with two facilities in Dublin, Ireland
"By combining our extensive experience supporting many of the world's top telecommunications companies with the highly skilled and talented workforce in this region we can create a delivery center that will generate meaningful benefits for Convergys clients, and more importantly, extensive career opportunities for the local workforce," said Convergys Chief Commercial Officer Mike Wooden.
Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster will join Convergys and client executives at a site opening ceremony in late May or early June.
