Cellcom Awards LTE Rollout Contract to NSN

Published on:

Israel's Cellcom says that it has selected Nokia Solutions and Networks for the supply of its 4G network.

The company said that it intends to commence a rapid deployment of the network, which also supports LTE-A, immediately and expects to achieve deployment of the network by the end of the year.

However, the operation of the network as well as its LTE-A qualities is still subject to the regulator's approvals and availability of spectrum.

The mobile network has been preparing to deploy an LTE network since it originally issued a tender back in late 2011.

Financial terms for the contract were not confirmed.

Cellcom has recently announced a joint LTE network joint venture with rival network Pelephone, but that has been held up by regulatory delays.
