Vodafone Awards $1 Billion Global Advertising Contract to New Agency

Vodafone Group has awarded a £600 million (USD1 billion) global media planning and buying account to a new advertising agency.

The global contract had been held by Omnicom's OMD, but was dropped in March during the account review process. The company had kept the account during its last review in 2009.

'Team Red Media', which is made up of resources from Group M's agencies, beat the Denstu Aegis Network in the final stage of the pitch, reports Brand Republic.

Vodafone also works with local agencies in some countries.

A Vodafone spokesman said that the review was "in keeping with good corporate practice, and following the advancements in the media and digital landscape."
