China's patent office is reviewing an application by ZTE to have 32 patents claimed by the former ringtone company, Vringo declared invalid.
The two companies have been fighting over patents in a number of countries since 2012.
ZTE has also initiated patent invalidation litigations against Vringo in courts in the United Kingdom, Germany and Australia.
In parallel to the concerted global patent invalidation action, ZTE has filed an antitrust complaint with the European Commission, requesting the regulator to investigate the licensing practices of Vringo in light of concerns that these practices are impeding fair competition in the telecommunications market.
