Mozilla to Sell $25 Smartphone in India

Mozilla, the web browser developer that has its own smartphone OS has announced plans for a low cost smartphone based on its own Firefox software.
Mozilla says that it has partnered with two Indian mobile phone manufacturers, Intex and Spice to launch the smartphones, which will be based on a platform supplied by Spreadtrum.
Other than that limited information, the company did not elaborate on the smartphones capabilities, although some reports suggested that the phones could sell for as little as US$25.
Mozilla has been working on its own smartphone OS for the past couple of years, based on what it calls an open platform that is based on the HTML5 web browser language.
The firm has said that it expects Firefox OS based phones to sell around 10 million units this year.
In other developments, Mozilla said that Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom has joined the list of mobile networks that have publicly said they will support the Firefox OS.
