Huawei has set itself an ambitious target of selling 80 million smartphones this year which would see the company boosting its sales by over 50% in just one year.
The company sold 52 million smartphones during 2013.
It said that it has already sold 8 million of its flagship smartphone, the Honor 3C, which was launched late last year, and expects that to reach 20 million by the end of this year.
Huawei recently indicated that it would pump USD300 million into its global marketing campaign, with most of that spent on its handsets division. While still a smaller amount than the top handset vendors, it is a significant increase for the Chinese vendor.
Around 60% of the marketing budget will be spent outside its core Chinese market.
