There are fresh rumours adding fuel to speculation that Apple may finally make a decisive break and launch its new models with significantly larger screens.
The company is lagging its competitors in the range of screen sizes and there is strong evidence that customers are now used to holding something sizeable in their hands.
The Japanese newspaper Nikkei is reporting that Japan Display (JDI) has won a contract to supply both 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch display screens for the iPhone 6 smartphones.
Mass production of liquid crystal display panels will start as early as the April-June quarter at Sharp's Kameyama factory, Japan Display's Mobara plant, and elsewhere, according to sources.
The newspaper added that the screen resolution will also be higher than the current models.
