New Mid-Range Smartphone from HTC Due Shortly

Fresh from showing off its new flagship model HTC is said to be working on a mid range addition to its Desire range although the new handset is expected to be targetted at the Chinese market.
What is presumed to be the HTC Desire 616 has appeared on the website of the Chinese electronics approvals regulator, Tenaa, and the specifications indicate that will could be the company's first 8-core smartphone.
The Desire 616 is, reportedly, based on the Mediatek MT6592 1.7 Ghz chipset which has already proven popular with other vendors targetting the Asian markets.
Other specifications include a 5-inch screen, an 8 megapixel main camera and 2 megapixel front camera. The OS will be Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which is the older version of the software.
The Chinese language website, MTK suggests that it will come with a retail price of around RMB1299 (US$209).
