Yahoo has bought the self destructing messaging app Blink and announced that it will close down the service in the next few weeks.
The so-called Acquihire sees Yahoo buying the company less for the customer base than for the technology and the employees. In this case, Blink was founded by former Google employees Kevin Stephens and Michelle Norgan.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed, although much larger rival self-destructing messaging app, Snapchat reportedly turned down a billion dollar offer from Facebook last year.
In a statement, Blink said simply that they "look forward to the possibilities that will come from bringing the Blink vision to Yahoo,"
The transaction is the latest in a string of around 40 acquisitions by Yahoo over the past couple of years as it seeks to bolster its mobile services division.
