Telef nica Deutschland and O2 have announced plans to bundle their business to business activities and the operation of their mobile communications and landline infrastructures under the common name of Telef nica O2 Germany.

Johannes Pruchnow, up to now the CEO of Telefónica Deutschland, will be the managing director of the new business division. Andrea Folgueiras, CTO at Telefónica O2 Germany, will be in charge of landline operations in addition to her existing responsibilities.

The newly created business division combines the sales and marketing of the business customer offers for small, medium-sized and multinational companies as well as the landline wholesale business, making it a second important mainstay in addition to the O2 consumer business. At the same time, we are securing opportunities for further growth in a convergent world," comments Jaime Smith Basterra, CEO at Telefónica O2 Germany.

Johannes Pruchnow, CEO at Telefónica Deutschland points out that the restructuring process will create new synergies. "The most important basis is our state-of-the-art IP-based landline and wireless infrastructure. Thanks to the new constellation, we will be able to advance with the merger of these two infrastructures even more quickly than before." The Verl location will be expanded to become a competence center for landline and IP.
