Report: Nextel expects to grow 40% in 2007

The Brazilian unit of digital trunking provider Nextel expects its business to grow approximately 40% in 2007, local news service IT Web reported the subsidiary's president Sergio Borges as saying.
The rate is similar to last year, when Nextel Brasil grew 42% compared to 2005.
According to the report, the company's strategy to keep growing in the local market is to launch a new series of devices to target the corporate segment.
Nextel now has 1.18mn subscribers in Brazil with an ARPU of 30.8 reais (US$17.4). Nextel's network provides coverage in 220 cities and municipalities across the country.
Meanwhile, the company increased its investments in Brazil this year compared to the US$220mn invested in 2006, marketing VP Mario Carotti said, without providing a 2007 figure. "The biggest growth opportunity for the company in Latin America is in Brazil," he added.
Nextel is a subsidiary of NII Holdings and in Latin America
also operates in Argentina, Mexico, Peru and Chile.
