Notification of Missed Calls when a Phone is off

Glenayre Technologies has launched a new Missed Call Notification and Call Return solution that will help operators generate more revenue through higher call completion rates. With Missed Call Notification, when a wireless subscriber is on the phone, has their phone turned off, or is out of their network coverage area, they can still receive a detailed notification of attempts to reach them.

Unlike Caller ID service, which can only provide a caller name or number if the wireless phone is on and in the network coverage area, Missed Call Notification provides a continuous, network-based service giving subscribers the added peace of mind that they never really miss an important call. Instead, the Missed Call Notification application captures and stores incoming call information until the subscriber becomes available. At that time, an SMS message containing a list of calls and phone numbers is sent to the subscriber, who can then return calls by simply highlighting the number.

According to Rolf Madson, senior vice president of marketing and business development for Glenayre, "Wireless subscribers want to know who called and when, so they can return calls even if the caller did not leave a voice message." Madson continued, "This generates more billable revenue for wireless operators." The Missed Call solution generates additional revenue from SMS notification traffic and additional traffic from returned calls."
