Toy Cell Phone Electrocutes Child

An Indian child was electrocuted last week when he tried to "recharge" a toy cell phone by inserting a live wire into the bottom of the toy. Local police say that they suspect the child was imitating the actions he saw others carrying out with real cell phones.

According to the Tappachabutra police, T Venkatesh, a 7 year old resident of Sharadanagar was playing along with his friends near Durga Temple in the morning. He, along with several other children were playing at the local temple and went to the community hall. There he saw some bare wires and inserted them into the bottom of his toy phone.

The boy was rushed to hospital, but pronounced dead on arrival."
