BenQ Licenses Picsel for Smartphones

Picsel Technologies says that the Taiwan based BenQ Corporation has become its latest Picsel File Viewer licensee. Scheduled for global release in December 2003, the Picsel Powered P30 Smartphone from BenQ will utilise Symbian's (UIQ) OS V7.0, based upon Texas Instruments OMAP processing architecture.

"Our partnership with BenQ is further evidence of Picsel's continuing commitment to provide best of breed mobile solutions to world leading technology brands", said Imran Khand, Picsel CEO. "Evidenced by the unequivocal success of our first product, Picsel File Viewer - and soon to be followed by the addition of our new applications, Picsel Browser and Picsel Messenger, Picsel is confident in its ability to continue to lead and expand upon the boundaries of rich content delivery".

A revolutionary content enabling application, Picsel File Viewer allows mobile device users the ability to access uniquely rich myriad content, without the need for content re-engineering, syncing or source applications residing on the device. Accessible through Picsel's seamless and highly intuitive user interface, Picsel File Viewer on BenQ's forthcoming Smartphone will support the following content formats: the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe PDF, Plain Text and Standard Image formats.

Developed specifically for resource-constrained devices, Picsel File Viewer based upon Picsel's ePAGETM Multimedia Content Engine, utilises minimal processor and memory footprints to deliver a revolutionary mobile user experience, beyond the scope of other mobile applications. Picsel applications can also be loaded onto a wide range of devices and platforms, pre or post device production - and are fully scalable and extensible to meet the specific requirements of client demand and device design."
