3G Base Stations Synchronize

Symmetricom says that it has received an order from Samsung Electronics worth in excess of US$1 million for delivery of base station synchronization modules to support the first deployment phase of a WCDMA network by SK Telecom. Symmetricom expects to commence product deliveries during the current quarter.

"Symmetricom is proud to be supplying Samsung with state-of-the-art 3G WCDMA base station synchronization modules to support growth in the South Korean wireless marketplace," said Rick Stroupe, executive vice president and general manager of Symmetricom's Telecom Solutions Division. "We believe this is an excellent endorsement of our product performance in a 3G environment and demonstration of our experience in the wireless network arena."

In June 2003, SK Telecom announced that it selected Samsung Electronics as a primary equipment provider to launch the company's WCDMA service. SK Telecom expects to offer the service in Seoul at the end of this year and has announced that Samsung will provide the initial equipment for these installations."
